First Day a Blast

A big thank you to Bob Walden and the Sea Star crew for sending us off with lots of love and encouragement today. We appreciate everyone who came out to see us off, and lost count at ten!

Breeze was light but (sort of) adequate for getting offshore and past the Farallones, as planned. It's foggy now with 6-7 knots of wind, still upwind but we're cracking off a bit. (That means going downwind for you landlovers.)

Lori and I each had a rest so far but not much actual sleep. I've seen quite a few whales including one who popped up right next to the boat. Yeesh! We've also seen quite a few porpoises and noisy aqua birds.

We are making progress, even if slowly. But hey! You can't control the wind. Just adjust your sails. :)

More to come.
-Cathy
