Update for Monday, July 11

I'm writing the update today because Lori and Cathy are pretty busy and tired. They're having significant problems with their electrical system so they've gone into major electricity conservation. They are only downloading weather files once a day and will not be sending texts while they work on this. They will be sending their daily checkin to the race committee, and they will pass info that way.

You can subscribe to the daily fleet position report email by sending email to "pacfleet+subscribe@googlegroups.com". This gives the latest true position, rankings and distance to finish for all boats, as well as messages from the boats when possible. The report comes out in the late afternoon each day.

Hang 20 will have gone almost 1000 miles by the end of today, so they're getting close to the halfway point. Their speed will increase as they get into more steady trade winds over the next few days. They have good battery-powered backups, and they are in good spirits. They don't need much in the way of detailed weather info now since they're basically pointed right at the finish, and there's no significant weather system changes expected any time soon.

They have lots of water and food. They're sailing hard and trying to sleep when they can. I'll pass on any news I get here.

Aloha,
Bob W
